A research group focused on how cells maintain genome integrity, and how cancer hijacks those pathways.
Overview
Our research sits at the intersection of genome integrity, protein regulation, and precision oncology. We use advanced biochemical, microscopic imaging, proteomic, and cellular models to understand how cancer cells exploit DNA repair pathways to survive treatment, with the ultimate goal of developing smarter, resistance-defying therapies.
Dr. Ismail Ismail is an Associate Professor in the Department of Oncology in the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry at the University of Alberta, based at the Cross Cancer Institute.
